Meadowlands Racetrack Best Burger Battle Saturday, May 9th | 5:00 to 11:00 p.m. | 1 Racetrack Drive, East Rutherford
Local restaurants and food trucks compete for cash prizes and the title of Best Burger, with plenty of other options serving everything from empanadas to ice cream. Admission and parking are free. A great night out for food lovers of all ages.
Mother's Day 5K & 10K Run Sunday, May 10th | 9:30 a.m. | Page Street entrance to Birchwood Park, Elmwood Park
Hosted by the New Elmwood Park Chamber of Commerce, this run supports the fight against Parkinson's Disease and honors local resident and mother Marlene Matsko as guest of honor. Courses include a 5K, 10K, and a 1-mile walk perfect for strollers and non-runners. A meaningful way to celebrate Mother's Day while giving back.
Love, Let Her Know: A Mother's Day Experience Sunday, May 10th | The Avenue at American Dream, East Rutherford

Green Team Repair Cafe Saturday, May 16th | 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. | Rutherford Public Library, 150 Park Avenue
The Rutherford Green Team holds its 15th Repair Cafe, where expert volunteers fix your broken or non-functioning items for free. Drop in with that wonky toaster or flickering lamp and enjoy coffee, tea, and a home-baked snack while you wait. First-come, first-served. Last entry at 3:00 p.m.
The good news is it's only May, so there's still plenty of time to plan ahead.
